Margriet was born ~1490 in Leerdam and was the daughter of Cornelis Jansz van Afferden (b ~1455, d >1516) and Unknown.

Cornelis Jansz was the son of Jan Pietersz van Afferden (b ~1410-1420) and Esther IJsendahl (b ~1425). Jan Pietersz van Afferden (b ~1410-1420) was a son of Pieter van Afferden (b ~1385) and Unknown. 1090

Margriet had at least two brothers – Wijnant Cornelisz van Afferden and Jan Cornelisz van Afferden – who would be identified as uncles in the future settlement of the estate of Claes and Margriet.
