Anne Thornton Will

In the name of God Amen. I Anne Thornton of Mile End Road in the hamlet of Mile End, Old town, in the county of Middlesex, widow, being incumbent, infirm of body but of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding. Praised be God. Do make and publish this my last will and testament in writing in manner and form following that is to say:- First I direct that my body may (EMALIC ??) after my death seven days above ground and then be decently interred in Limehouse Church Yard by the side or as near my late sister Elizabeth Hughes as may be, and that six females only and 160 Gentlemen do attend my funeral.
In the next place, I direct that all my just debts, funeral expenses and the expense of proving and carrying into execution this my will, be fully paid and satisfied and with the payment whereof I do hereby charge this copyhold (HARADS) comments and premises by me hence-after devised and bequeathed.
In the next place, I give, devise and bequeath unto my son John Gilbert (Chargeable and subject as above mentioned) All that my undivided money, an equal half part or share of, and in all that copyhold, Messuage or tenement with this gainsays and (APPERTERNAMENTS) there unto belonging (VITERATE) and being in White Chapel , High Street in the parish of Saint Mary White Chapel in the said county of Middlesex within and part of the manor of Stebonheath otherwise of Spepney now in the occupation of Joseph Goldsbury (and which I have duly surrendered to the best of my will, to hold the same (Chargeable and subject, as aforesaid / unto my ward son John Gilbert, his heirs and assigns, for ever. Also I give and bequeath unto James Williams of Whitechapel High Street,aforesaid Tinsmith, and Richard Hughes of Cannon Street,Road in the parish of Saint George in the East in the said county, a mourning ring each and as to my money in all and any of the public stocks and funds outstanding debts, ready money and securities for money, household furniture and implements of household plate, linen, china and all the East residence and remainder of my estate and effects whatsoever and of what matter or kind soever the same shall or may consist at the time of my decease I do hereby give and bequeath the same and every part thereof.
Unto my neice Elizabeth Scott who now resides with me. To hold and take the same and every part thereof unto my said neice Elizabeth Scott, her executors, administrators and assigns for ever and I do hereby expressly will and declare that the bequest herein before mad to my said neice, Elizabeth

Scott shall be for her own sole seperate and peculiar use and benefit, independent of her present or any future husband with whom she shall or may intermarry and not subject or liable to his interference .
Debts, Receipts or engagements and over which I direct he shall have no power or control whatsoever but that the receipt and receipts alone of my said niece notwithstanding her coverture and whether she be married or sole shall be a good and sufficient discharge and discharges for the same and every part thereof . And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said niece Elizabeth Scott
sole executrix of this my last will and testament and do hereby revoke all former and other wills by me and any timed heretofore made and do declare this and this only to be and contains my true last will and testament.
Whereof I the said Ann Thornton have to the first sheet of this, my last will and testament, contained in two sheets of paper by my hand and to the second and last sheet use of my hand and seal this thirty first day of October in the year of our Lord One Thousand and Eight Hundred and Fourteen.
