As per email from Alan Kelly June 2020.

    Hi Brian,

What a minefield this genealogy game is.

I have in my possession a search into the descendants of John Willmott 1852-1932 and Mary Cox 1855-1930 carried out by a profession Genealogist around 1991. As far as I know these dates are correct as I have photographs of the grave and “in memoriam” cards issued at the time by the family. I have also cross referenced these against the records for East Sheen Cemetery.

This search makes no reference to John James Willmott and states that Henry George Willmott died a Bachelor. This search was made in London, and I assume, using original documents and not transcripts and may be more accurate.

I believe that not all census documents online are not totally accurate as they are only as good as the diligence and accuracy of the transcriber permit. For example: the entry for the 1901 census provided by Rootspoint web site lists Charlotte Mary Willmott as Charlotte H Willncott.

From the same source a John F Willmott is listed in the 1891 census as well as John and Mary Willmott and the other 4 children. Not all of the people listed were directly related to each other as only the people in the house at the time are listed.

I have the original marriage certificate of Charlotte Mary Willmott and lists her as living at 12, Worple Street, Mortlake. At certain times the extended Willmott families lived at 10,11and 12 Worple Street. I believe that John Willmott senior may have built them.

On your Geneanet website I believe that 12 Maple Street may have been 12 Worple Street. Bad transcription?

I can find no record of Catherine Mary Willmott being married to any one at all in which case Henry George Willmott cannot be your Grandfather. I am slightly confused at this entry as you state that your mother was Catherine Mary Willmott,

If I assume your Father to be Robert Orys then he married Ethel E Cook in 1938 from free BMD records ref 1d/1571.

If I assume you to be Brian P Orys born 1946 (free BMD ref 5c/136) then Free BMD records show that your Mother's maiden name was Cook. Unless you have the full long version of your birth certificate this will not show up. Full certificates are available at the General Records Office (GRO) at a price form their website.

I am sorry if I have pried into your past, but this information is freely available. I hope that I have not upset you at all.

I have family trees listed on Geneanet, but this is not complete for the english side, as I have been concentrating on the French side as my Father was born in France, another minefield.

And so the search goes on.

I am living in France at the moment and will be, when I am able to, visit the National Archive in Kew to research the Dunkirk Evacuation which I think my Father was involved in on a French warship. When I do make it over, if you so wish, we could perhaps meet up and compare notes.

Anyway, I think, that about all for now. I am sorry for any confusion.
