Biography
Mary Elizabeth Clark was born on 11 Mar 1822 at Edmonton, Middlesex, England. She was baptised on 21 July 1822 at the Independent Meeting House, Ponders End.[1]

In the 1841 census, Mary Clark was age 19 living at Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire with her father James Clark (40), mother Mary Ann Clark (40), brothers James Clark (20), John Clark (12), Thomas Clark (9), Charles Clark (3), sisters Ann Clark (14), Sarah Clark (7), grandmother Elizabeth Parker (60).[2]

In the 1851 census, Mary E Clark was age 29 living at Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire with her mother Mary A Clark (51), brothers James P Clark (31), Thomas W Clark (19), Charles Clark (13). Also servant Susanah Clarke (15).[3]

Charles Hilton married Mary Elizabeth Clark on 22 Apr 1851 at Holy Trinity, Newington, Southwark.[4][5] They had two children: Sarah Clark Hilton (1852–1854), Mary Ann Hilton (b. 1853).

In the 1861 census, Mary E Hilton was age 38 living at New Road, Ware, Hertfordshire with her husband Charles Hilton (34), daughter Mary A Hilton (8). Also servant Esther Swann (17).[6]

Mary Elizabeth Hilton died on 25 Nov 1870 age 48 at Ware.[7][8] She was buried on 1 Dec 1870 at Stanstead Abbots, Hertfordshire.[9]
