Notes about Edward Albany

Hello Brian,
I have a birth cert for my Aunt Lily Elizabeth Albany on November 7 1897 at 109 High Street Poplar father shown as Edward Albany Lighterman and mother Mary Bennett. I have yet to find a marriage. On the 1901 census in West Ham there is a Mary Albany age 25 b Ware with a dtr Lizzie (my aunt's familiar name)
age 3 and Edward son age 2. In 1901 on board the SS Harlech Castle at Southampton is Edward Albany age 31 a trooper born Ware, married which could explain why Mary is alone with the kids. When Lizzie married my Uncle in 1921 she gave her age as 20 and her father as Edward Albany deceased a soldier. The son Edward died in 1902 and is shown as the son of Edward Albany a general labourer It all seems to fit but.....!
The final piece is the 1881 census at Sams Yard Ware where there is an Edward Albany age 12 with parents Wm and Mary Ann and a sister Kitty.

A real puzzle!!
