Notes about Eliza HARVEY

GRO Marriage Certificate dated January 24, 1841. She and Felix married in the Parish Church, Bow, London, Middlesex. Both were entered as of FULL age, as stated in the next paragraph, Eliza could only have been 16/17! Obviousely a marriage of necessity!

Recorded in the 1851 Census (PRO. HO107/1552 folio 870, page 15), she is married to Felix and is 27 years of age, and has a son William, who is 11 years of age - which would make her only 16 years old when she gave birth to her first child. She went on to have further children, at the ages of, 17, 19, 20, 25 and 27. HO ME ADDRESS at this time was - Fair Street, Stepney, London. (Living with her parents).

If my findings in the 1881 Census, (Source, FHL Film 1341107, PRO. RG11/0487 folio 32, page 59) are correct, she went on to have further children, at the ages of, 31, 38, 39 and 42. A total of 10 living children. I wonder! did she have any more children - say between 20 and 25, or 27 and 31, or even between 31 and 38? HOME ADDRESS at this time was - 67 St Pauls Road, Mile End Old Town, London.

She was listed as a Widow in 1881, with two daughters, young Eliza and Mary b oth living at home, and both unmarried - I wonder! - if the reason for their being Spinsters, was that they had seen too many births, with all the consequences to their mother and, if they were made to help with the upbringing of their siblings, they may have been put off marriage by the possibility of them having to go through the same?

The 1891 Census address was :- 44 Baytho rne Street, Mile End.
