Notes about Wolfgang Schnepp

Wolff Schnepff appears in the parish register of Illkirch-Graffenstaden from the time of his first marriage in 1579 until 1594. The church records from 1594 until 1620 are missing but in 1625 a daughter of Wolff Schnepff, deceased iron worker, from Illkirch, married at Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Following are several records of Wolff Schnepff found in the parish registers:

18 May [1579] entered into marriage, Wolff Schnepff von Niederschopffel and Elsbeth Veltin, daughter of deceased Hans Veltin of Graffenstaden. [1]

Dominica Septuagesima [1582], the sacrament of baptism was given to a child named Johannes. His parents were Wolff Schnepff and Susanna his wedded wife. Godfather was Georg Ammel the innkeeper and Hans son of Sebastian Sengel. (Feb. 14, 1582). Wolff married Elsbeth Veltin in 1579, so either she was Elsbeth Susanna or the pastor entered the wrong name. [2]

Married 13 Sunday Post Trinity [1583], Wolff Schnepff von Niederschopffel and Barbara Mersch, deceased Dieboldt's daughter.[3]

Wolff Schnepff sponsored baptisms for children of Hans Ammel in 1584, 1588, 1590. For child of Dieboldt Ammel, 1591. Barbara, wife of Wolff Schnepff sponsored a child of Jacob Gartt, 1593.

18th Sunday after Trinity [October 24] 1625, Adolph Ernst the goose tender at Graffenstaden and Anna, daughter of deceased iron worker, Wolff Schnepff from Illkirch were married. [4] In February, 1630 Anna Ernst, wife of Adolph, sponsored baptism of Brigitta Schwing, daughter of Martin Schwing. Brigitta married Hans Schnepp (Schnepp-36), son of Hans in 1656.
