Child(ren):
Hans Ammel, son of Hans and Sophia, was baptized January 14, 1588 and sponsored at baptism by Wolff Schnepff and Anna Meyenkuchel, daughter of Wendel Meyenkuchel. He married about 1612 and lived at Illkirch in the parish of Illkirch-Graffenstaden and was deceased by September 1633 when "Anna Ammel, widow of Hans Ammel, fisherman, here," sponsored a baptism at Illkirch-Graffenstaden. There was also a Hans Ammel at the village of Graffenstaden in the same parish, with a wife Barbara and an even older, Hans Ammel at Illkirch, which has made it difficult to sort them out. Several family trees on Geneanet have them hopelessly confused. However, a careful analysis of the births, deaths and marriage in the parish register has made it possible to clearly identify each of the three Hans Ammels in the Illkirch-Graffenstaden parish in the first half of the seventeenth century. Hans, who was married to Anna definitely lived at Illkirch and in several instances is called "Hans der Junger" to distinguish him from Hans "der Alt" (actually his mother's brother, who died November 12, 1648 at age 82). In other instances, he is called "Suffeys Hans" (ie. Sophia's Hans), indicating he was the son of Hans and Sophia of Illkirch.
