Notes about Johannes Philippus Beens

Johannes Philippus Beens, geboren Assen 14 februari 1814, was molenaar te Vollenhove op de molen aan de Doelenstraat.
Volgens mondelinge overlevering, en ook zijn overlijdensakte wijst daarop, heeft hij zich op 1 mei 1885 in zijn molen opgehangen.
Zijn zoon Hendrikus heeft het molenaarsbedrijf van zijn vader overgenomen, maar is daar waarschijnlijk weinig succesvol in geweest want in 1896 vertrok hij naar Amsterdam.

De inmiddels zwaar verwaarloosde molen aan de Molenberg (aan het einde van de Doelenstraat) werd in augustus 1938 gesloopt, na 300 jaar dienst te hebben gedaan.
