    De geallieerde bombardementen op Amsterdam-Noord in juli 1943 waren gericht op de Fokker vliegtuigfabrieken aldaar.
    Het eerste bombardement op 17 juli kwam echter grotendeels in de woonwijken van de Bloemenbuurt terecht. Meer dan 200 mensen verloren bij de bombardementen het leven.
    Op 17 juli 1943 is Jansje De Smit-Van Duuren omgekomen in (de buurt van) de Papaverweg, Amsterdam-Noord.

    De gevelsteen aan de Fazantenweg in Amsterdam herinnert aan de bombardementen op de Fokker-fabrieken in juli 1943, waarbij 206 burgers om het leven kwamen
    Tevens herinnert het gedenkteken aan de wederopbouw van de woonwijk in 1946.
