Das sächs. Adelsgeschlecht war seit 1420 mit dem Erbmarschallamt von Kursachsen belehnt. Es besaß 1325-1647 die Herrschaft|Pretzsch an der Elbe. Matthias (gen. 1394-1421) war Propst zu Kemberg und sächs. Kanzler, Heinrich ( 1493) Landvogt zu Wittenberg, Tamm ( 1505) Dr. iur., Domherr zu Meißen und Archidiakon der Niederlausitz, Hans ( 1541) Hofmeister zu Wittenberg, Freund Luthers und Vertrauter von Hzg. Moritz, Hans ( 1580), kursächs. Rat, Vizehofrichter und Kommissar der Universität Wittenberg, baute das Schloß Pretzsch neu. Hans ( 1614) war kursächs. Rat und Obersteuereinnehmer, Dompropst zu Naumburg, Domdechant zu Meißen und Hofgerichtsassessor zu Wittenberg. Wolf ( 1604), Obersteuereinnehmer, Oberhofgerichtsassessor und Inspektor der Fürstenschule Grimma, erwarb 1602 das Rittergut Sahlis (50 km südl. Leipzig), das bis 1700 im Besitz seiner Nachkommen blieb: Hans ( 1644), Obersteuereinnehmer und Direktor der Ritterschaft des Fürstentums Sachsen-Altenburg, und Kurt (1623–70), kursächs. Rat, Obersteuereinnehmer und Landschaftsdirektor von Sachsen-Altenburg. Eustachius Friedrich (1699–1774) war sächs. Generalmajor und Inspekteur der Kavallerie.
