lt. [Boley] Stiftung Esser lebte Martin Göbbels auf dem Gut Volkershoven in Langweiler.

In seinem Artikel Familiengeschichtliches aus 4 Studienstiftungen, erschienen in den [Rurblumen] Nr. 10, 1930, behauptet Karl Theodor Gatzen, dass Gerhard Göbbels und Anna Hamers die Eltern von Martin Göbbels seien, dem Stammvater der Göbbels in der Stiftung Esser. Wie schon [Hommelsheim] in seinen Aufzeichnungen bemerkt hat, gibt es dafür fast keinen Anhaltspunkt, abgesehen von Unterlagen, die Gatzen nach eigener Auskunft bei seiner Tante, Witwe Sanitätsrat Dr. Schwann in Köln eingesehehatte. In den Stiftungsunterlagen Binius sind nur die Söhne Theodor, Johann und Heinrich genannt. Im Taufbuch Dremmen ist die Taufe eines Martin Göbbels, Sohn von Goert, enthalten, dieser Martin ist aber definiv zu jung, um mit dem Martin Göbbel

Ehemann von Margarethe Schmitz, identisch zu sein, da das Paar nachweislich ab 1659 Kinder hatte. Damit stellt sich zwar als sehr wahrscheinlichheraus, dass ein Martin Göbbels tatsächlich als Sohn der Familie in einer Stammtafel zur Stiftung genannt wurde, dieser aber sicher nicht zur Stiftung Esser führt.
