Cornelis Sundermeijer vertrok op 25-6-1902 naar Zoeterwoude vanuit Rotterdam.
Op 28-8 -1914 keerde hij daar weer terug.
Het echtpaar vertrok op 15-10-1914 naar Lellens (gem. Ten Boer) aangezien hij daar beroepen was als predikant.
Het gezin heeft daarna nog gewoond in o.m.(?) 't Zandt(1918) en Ritthem(1921).

In 1929 was C. Sundermeijer predikant te Tjerkgaast (St. Nicolaasga).
Op 13 juli 1930 nam hij daar afscheid en deed op 20 jul d.a.v. zijn intrede te Akkerwoude na bevestiging te Murmerwoude door zijn zwager Ds. A.C. Diederiks te Hilversum en Ds. M.E. van der Veen te Langeveer.

Hij was dominee in de Grote Kerk (Nederlands Hervormd) van 1933 tot 1954. Hij was eerder dominee in Akkeroude en Murmerwoude. In juni 1933 werd dit in de lokale kranten bekendgemaakt.
Sundermeijer volgde dominee Jacobus Johannes Hermanus Pop op (hij was hier dominee in de periode 1929 - 1932). Er was 14 maanden lang een vacature geweest voor deze positie. Hij kwam in de Pompstraat te wonen op huisnummer 33.

Bij de avonddienst op zondag 30 juli 1933 deed Ds. Sundermeijer zijn intrede bij de Nederlands Hervormde Kerk in Gorinchem. Eerder die dag, bij de dienst van 10:00, werd hij al 'bevestigd' door dominee J. Luuringe te Oudwoude. Natuurlijk was de kerk nagenoeg geheel gevuld.

De intree-dienst werd aangevangen met het zingen van Psalm 68:10 en 2 en een gebed, waarna de eerste preek van Sundermeijer startte. In de preek werd onder andere de vraag "Wat is goed zaad voor den geestelijken opbouw van den mensch?" behandeld. Hij bedankte onder andere burgemeester Kootstra (die was bij beide diensten aanwezig), ds. Cornelis de Jongh en ds. Luuring in zijn preek.

In maart 1955 droeg hij zijn 'modaliteit van de NH Kerk' over aan ds. Willem Gerrit Gijzel.

Ds. Sundermeijer overleed op 71-jarige leeftijd op 17 februari 1956 en werd in besloten kring te Ritthem (Zeeland) begraven. Toen zijn lichaam Gorinchem verliet vanuit zijn sterfhuis volgde hij nog een route door Gorinchem:
Appeldijk, Visbrug, Hoogstraat, Kelenstraat, Grote Markt, Groenmarkt, voor langs de kerk, Achter de Kerk, Kruisstraat, Westwagenstraat, Kanselpoort.

In april 1956 gaf Jan Bonefaas een orgelconcert in de Grote Kerk dat gewijd was aan de nagedachtenis van Ds. C. Sundermeijer en de heer F. A. Pannekoek (tijdens zijn leven penningmeester van de orgelcommissie).

De vrouw van dominee Sundermeijer leidde "Dameskrans Irene", de leiding had ze overgenomen van de vrouw van ds. Pop, de voorganger van Sundermeijer. Deze vereniging bestond in 1956 25 jaar vermeldde Nieuwsblad op 08-02-1956. Ze zamelden geld in met o.a. bazars en verkopen waarmee ze andere kerkelijke en jeugdverenigingen steunden.
