17 mei 1873: Hendrik Martens gaat een lening aan bij Adriaan Klijs, zonder beroep, wonende in Oosterhout voor een bedrag van 1100 gulden tegen een rente van 5% per jaar. Tot zekerheid verbindt debiteuer een huis met verder getimmerte, weide, erf en moestuin te Oosterhout aan de Groenstraat.

8 augustus 1876: Een dergelijke transactie wordt afgesloten met Petrus Sebastianus van Eekelen, leerlooier in Dongen. Echter voor een bedrag van 1500 gulden. Rente en zekerheid zijn identiek.

7 februan 1879: Het zakelijk contact met Petrus Sebastianus van Eekelen wordt voortgezet met een lening van 400 gulden. Ook dan zijn rente en zekerheid gelijk aan eerdere transacties.

9 juni 1880: Hendrik Martens, dan wonende in Tilburg, geeft aan de notaris te kennen dat hij wil overgaan tot openbare verkoop van een huis met schuur, erf en moestuin aan de Groenstraat in Oosterhout. Dit onroerendgoed is hem aanbedeeld bij acte van boedelscheiding van 26 februari 1873. In de herberg van de weduwe Adriaan Tempelaars te Oosterhout,' s avonds om acht uur, wordt het pand op 1400 gulden ingezet. Twee weken later, op 23 juni 1880 op dezelfde tijd, vindt in de herberg van Gijsbertus van Helvert op den Horst onder Oosterhout de tweede veiling plaats. Er wordt, zonder toeslag, gemijnd door Petrus Sebastianus van Eekelen voor f 1400.= en aan wie de koop is gegund.
