In jungen Jahren studierte Fritz Musik. Es spielte Saxofon, Klarinette und Bassgitarre. So haben Fritz und Alma sich auch kennen gelernt, als sie sich zum ersten mal trafen beim Tanz in der Mai, im Jhre 1937. Da spielte Fritz auf seinem kleinen Saxofon. Als während des 2. Weltkrieges bei Ostende in Belgien in Kriegsgefangenschaft geriet, machte er Musik für die englischen Truppen.
