Verslag in de Eembode van 11-1-1921±
Voor de rechtbank te Zwolle stond terecht een inwoner van Nijkerk, beschuldigd in den nacht in een schuur te Nijkerk, toebehoorend aan M.Welling te hebben brandgesticht. In de schuur bevond zich een groote partij appelen, toebehoorende aan drie mannen. Beklaagde verklaarde, dat twee hunner hem eenige borrels gevoerd hadden, elk hunner beloofde f.50,/ als hij door een luikje in de schuur, dat zij zouden openlaten, het stroo, dat de appelen dekte, in brand stak. Zij hadden daarvoor petroleum en lucifers gehaald. De officier zeide te betreuren dat de werkelijke schavuiten buiten schot bleven, tegen hen was geen wettig bewijs aan te brengen± dit was de oorzaak, dat de instructie zoolang had geduurd. Hij nam aan dat de brand gesticht was op aanzetten van anderen, daarom stelde hij den eisch van zes maanden.
