Het gezin Asselbergs-Simons woonde op de hoek Molstraat / Potterstraat te Bergen op Zoom in het pand "de Blinde Esel" (Molstraat 20). De smederij / winkel was gevestigd in het naastgelegen pand "Da
arnaast" en "de Mansvelder" (in oorsprong twee panden, nu Potterstraat 15). Dit bedrijf is bij vonnis van de Arrondissements Rechtbank te Breda op 30 augustus 1898 in staat van faillissement verklaard
. Op 30 oktober 1900 is het faillissement geëindigd.Na het overlijden van zijn vrouw is Adrianus Antonius samen met zijn oudste dochter Johanna Gerardina Maria in de Potterstraat op nummer 20 gaan wo
nen in het pand genaamd 'Sint Huijbrecht". Adrianus Antonius had als bijnaam "Den Doei".
