Petronella Maria de Groot werd gedoopt te Woensel op 26 februari 1796 als dochter van voerman Jan de Groot en Hendrina van Eersel. Zij trouwde te Eindhoven op 29 januari 1818 met winkelier-linnenkoopman Jan Baptist van Besouw, gedoopt te Goirle op 17 januari 1792. In Goirle was Petronella Maria de Groot tot ± 1870 handelaarster in kaatsballen. Zij overleed te Goirle op 28 februari 1878.
