Het Bisdom Brede antwoord : de naam Oxford of Oxfort ben ik niet tegengekomen, uit de registers van rond 1830 blijkt dat het mogelijk gaat over Priesters of Geestelijken die tijdens de Franse revulutie uit Frankrijk of Belgie zijn gevlucht en in Nederland hebben verbleven.
