wouter Govaerts van Opstal, gedoopt Gilze 8 Juli 1646,
koster en schoolmeester (1674) te Chaam, vorster ald.
(1680), testeert met zijn vrouw 21-8-1696, overleden
vóór 18-12-1700, tr. Teteringen (o.tr. Breda 24-8-1668)
Eva Jongerling Jansdr, geb. Breda(?). Zij verkoopt 19-
10-1707 een stuk land te Chaam, geheten Baesewijck,
aan haar zoon Govert (r.a. Chaam R. 216, f. 116). Schepenen
van Chaam verklaren op 18-9-1687 op verzoek
van Wouter van Opstal, „onsen vorster", dat hij nooit
enig zomerkoren heeft genoten van de ingezetenen, dat
hij geen andere vaste emolumenten van zijn ambt geniet
dan alleen het winiervorsterkoren, dat de dagelijkse
inkomsten van het ambt van heel kleine en geringe
importatie zijn en dat hij bovendien is gezegend
met een gezin van „vrou en seven alnoch levende kinderen,
waarvan het oudste kint maar oudt te wesen
vijffthien jaren", enz. (r.a. Chaam R. 193, f. 46).
