Mijn ouders zijn 14 sept 1948 getrouwd in de Bartholomeus kerk te Waspik.
Mijn vader, geboren in Millingen aan de Rijn (afkomstig van de scheepvaart) werkte op het schip van zijn ouders. Dat werd in de oorlog gebombardeerd en zonk. Na de oorlog is het wel weer opgebouwd. Maar mijn vader was, nadat hij mijn moeder in oorlogstijd leerde kennen bij Rijkswaterstaat gaan werken te Sambeek omdat het schip nog niet was opgebouwd. Daar zijn ze als ik mij goed herinner uit de verhalen ongeveer 1 jaar na hun huwelijk naar toe verhuisd. Mijn moeder had een eigen huis in Waspik en wilde niet gaan inwonen bij iemand na de oorlog. Mijn vader woonde dus wel in Sambeek bij een kostgezin. Na ongeveer 1 jaar kregen zij een huis in Sambeek en is mijn moeder verhuisd van Waspik naar Sambeek
