Heel gelukkig waren zij toen ze als jong bruidspaar in 1938 naar Indië vertrokken. Hun geluk was groot bij de geboorte van hun twee dochters Rita en Greetje.
Aan het geluk kwam een einde toen Arnoldina met haar twee dochters 4,5 jaar gescheiden werden van Antoon toen zij alle drie naar het Jappenkamp moesten.
Antoon was Sergeant Fourier bij de Infanterie en is op 8 maart 1942 in Tjimani Mura, Bandoeng, krijgsgevangen genomen.
