Zeventig jaar zijn ze al bij elkaar. Zeventig jaar delen ze lief en leed. Cornelis Rovers 98 jaar, en zijn 92 jarige Wilhelmina trouwden op 4 juni 1925. Hun platina bruiloft wordt op 6 juni in verzorgingshuis St. Elisabeth in Etten-Leur met een receptie gevierd.
Tot negen jaar geleden woonden de heer en mevrouw Rovers nog zelfstandigin hun huis in het Bredase Princenhage, waarin Cornelis Rovers ook geboren is. Na hun huwelijk in 1925 namen zij het tuindersbedrijf over van vader Rovers. Zij ontfermden zich samen over frambozen, bessen, witlof en bospeen. Allemaal van de koude grond.
ook toen Cornelis Rovers zijn grond had weggedaan, bleef tuinieren zijn grootste hobby. In de wintermaanden werkte hij bij de suikerfabriek in Breda.
Het gezin Rovers bestaat anno 1995 uit vier kinderen, die inmiddels ook al met pensioen zijn, vijf kleinkinderen en negen achterkleinkinderen.
