Johannes Jacobus Roovers zou de samenstelling van de volgende 2 adresboeken aansturen. Hij staat vermeld als J.J.Roovers Jzn, zoon van Jan, een keistrater. Johannes Jacobus werd op 20 januari 1866 in Breda geboren. Hij zou nooit trouwen en op 16 oktober 1950 na een bijzondere carrière overlijden in Amsterdam. Aanvankelijk werd hij letterzetter. In een notariële akte van 12 september 1893 vinden we de verhuur geregeld van een sneldrukpers. Hij was voor 50% eigenaar. Johannes Jacobus zou 2e commies ter secretarie van de gemeente Breda worden. Hij staat slechts éénmaal in het adresboek Breda vermeld als tweede commies en wel in 1893. Hij verzorgt nog wel het volgende adresboek van 1895. In datzelfde jaar gaat hij naar Voorhout en vanaf maart 1896 woont hij op diverse adressen in Amsterdam. We maken dan een sprong van 30 jaar. Daarin moet hij zich ontwikkeld hebben om in september 1926 benoemd te worden tot nieuwe gemeentesecretaris van Amsterdam. Hij wordt plechtig beëdigd tijdens een gemeenteraadszitting. Hij komt vele malen met foto in de krant: in november 1929 is hij bij de uitvaart van een wethouder, een paar dagen later bij de herdenking van 5 jaar overlijden van Herman Heijermans, in oktober 1930 bij een jubileum van de V.U. , hij wordt in december 1932 voorzitter van de bouwcommissie van het tehuis De Joodsche Invalide. In mei 1933 neemt hij in Krasnapolsky afscheid en ontvangt een fraaie staande klok. In januari 1941 wordt hij 75 jaar en geeft hij een grote receptie in het Amstelhotel. Als hij op 84 jarige leeftijd in Amsterdam overlijdt verschijnt er een advertentie met nog wat meer gegevens, die een tipje van de 30jarige sluier lichten. Johannes Jacobus is Officier in de Orde van Oranje Nassau, hij is drager van het officierskruis van de Kroon van Italië en drager van het Officierskruis van de Ster van Roemenië. De katholieke eredienst bij zijn overlijden wordt op 19 oktober 1950 in Amsterdam gehouden, maar daags daarna wordt hij op Zuylen in Breda te ruste gelegd.
