Notes about Jan Beenen Klinge

Jan Beenen was landbouwer in Havelte in de provincie Drente en later in Heemperveen waar hij ook is overleden. Ook werkte hij net als zijn vader als turfsteker. Hij trok waarschijnlijk rond 1816 naar Avereest om in het veen te gaan werken. In Avereest begon men met het vervenen in 1811 na het gereed komen van het kanaal de Dedemsvaart. De gezinnen werden ondergebracht in plaggenhutten die werden gebouwd op de zandhoogten ten oosten van Balkbrug en rondom de Polle en werden gemaakt van heideplaggen en dennen
