Over dit gezin en hun nakomelingen is een boek uitgegeven. De familie bestaat uit grote gezinnen, die vooral werkten op en rond het water. Velen waren schippers, Biesbosch- griend- en grondwerkers. Veel bezittingen hadden zij niet. de meesten woonden op het Sandoel in Raamsdonksveer, een wijk waar veeal de arbeiders woonachtig waren. Toch zijn ook zij belangrijk genoeg om hun geschiedenis in een boek vast te leggen.
In dit boek wordt gesproken over Raamsdonk. Dit komt omdat dit de naam van de gemeente was en op alle officiële documenten vermeldt wordt. Bijna alle van Schijndels hebben hun leven doorgebracht in Raamsdonksveer. Slechts een enkeling woonde in Raamsdonk dorp, dit wordt dan ook apart vermeld.

In 1787 vestigt Adriaan zich in Raamsdonkveer (zijn ouders leven dan niet meer). In 1791 erfde Adriaan van zijn tante Lucia van Schijndel uit Nieuwkuijk.
