Notes about Pieter van Es

Er zijn rond 1700 geen mensen gedoopt met de naam Pieter van Es. Wel twee mensen met de naam Pieter van Esch. Een is gedoopt op 11-8-1699, de ander in 1706. Er zijn twee redenen om aan te nemen dat de persoon van 1706 de Pieter is die we zoeken. Ten eerste is er een Pieter van Esch overleden op 22-10-1704. Ten tweede is de voornaam van de vader van de 1699-gedoopte Dirck. Die van de 1706 Pieter is Jan. Dat lijkt gezien de vernoemingen reëler. De naam an de moeder luidt Christina, wat het volgende weer van belang maakt.
Maar er is ook een Pieter van Esh gedoopt op 28-10-1708 in Delfshaven en ook zijn vader heet Jan van Esh. De moeder heet Maria, wat op zich terugkomt in de kinderen. Voorzichtig kunnen we daarom veronderstellen dat deze Pieter de enige juiste is: de namen van de ouders en de laats Delfshaven. Maar zeker zullen we het nooit weten.
