Hij liet Karsen's dagboekbladen voorlezen die betrekking hadden op zijn teleurgestelde liefde, zodat Karsen dus de aanklager, Saar de Swart de niet verschenen beklaagde was. Het gerecht kon er niet toe komen haar schuldig te verklaren en Karsen werd in het ongelijk gesteld. Deze gewezen leerlinge van Rodin is in 1951, meer dan negentig jaar oud, op Capri overleden
