Als een voorbeeld van het ook te Amsterdam tot stand gekomen contact tussen de hanteerders van de pen en die van het penseel mag ‘het proces’ in de negentiger jaren gelden waarover Jan Engelman in de Groene van 8 september 1951 enkele bizonderheden heeft meegedeeld. Saar de Swart, wel ‘de muze der Tachtigers’ genoemd, daar zij bijna allen het hoofd op hol heeft gebracht zonder daar zelf iets aan te kunnen doen, veroorzaakte - blijkens een brief van Van Eeden aan de schilder Willem Witsen - een psychische ontreddering bij de schilder Eduard Karsen. Jan Veth nam toen het initiatief tot een zitting met de romancier Aletrino en de schilder Van der Valk op de tribune en als jury Martha van Eeden-van Vloten, Tak en Veth zelf. Hij liet Karsen's dagboekbladen voorlezen die betrekking hadden op zijn teleurgestelde liefde, zodat Karsen dus de aanklager, Saar de Swart de niet verschenen beklaagde was. Het gerecht kon er niet toe komen haar schuldig te verklaren en Karsen werd in het ongelijk gesteld. Deze gewezen leerlinge van Rodin is in 1951, meer dan negentig jaar oud, op Capri overleden
