Dedde Jans Knol blijkt , volgens verklaringen van getuigen (waaronder zijn Vader) , geboren te zijn “elf weeken na mey” 1790 te Murmerwoude. Hij was echter niet gedoopt vandaar dat zijn doop niet gevonden is in de DTB’s 157, 159, 162 en 164 ( Herv. Gemeenten, Akkerwoude, Murmerwoude, Veenwouden, Birdaard, Janum, Dantumawoude, Driesum en Wouterswoude)

Knol, Dedde Jans, geb. Damwoude 1791, waarschijnlijk zoon van Jan Deddes Valomstra te Zwaagwesteinde (De Valom) en Grietje Johannes loteling lichting 1811 mairie Veenwouden lot nr. 83; wordt geschikt verklaard; behoorde tot de compagnie vrijwilligers uit Friesland waarvan het 4e transport op 09.09.1809 onder de sergeant Lamberg vertrok uit Leeuwarden naar Utrecht, was toen 19 jaar, 5 voet, 2 duim en 1 streep en kreeg een premie van 100. —gulden; waarschijnlijk ingedeeld bij een Holl. infanterieregt., mogelijk het 9e regt.; bij aanneming familienaam Valomstra 21 jaar Bronnen: OA Tytsjerksteradiel mairie Bergum ing. stukken sept. 1812 nr. 3 lotelingenlijst lichting 1812; Tresoar toegang 8/3176II; Raf Veenwouden fol. 89; Tresoar toegang 8/3176II
