de negentiende eeuw het maar kort volgehouden. Er was veel verdeeldheid en dronkenschap. Ds. Onne Cazemier, die daar werkte van 1901 tot 1905, heeft het persoonlijk ondervonden. Tegen de misstanden is hij vermanend opgetreden. Dat werd hemniet in dank afgenomen. De plaatselijke kerkenraad vond hem te progressief en besloot hem eervol ontslag te geven met behoud van salaris voor de periode van drie jaar.
