Third child of Geertrui Engelbertink Weust and Lambertus Weust from Weerselo, The Netherlands. Immigrated to the US on August 26, 1892 with his four siblings, Susanna, Henry, Gertrude Theresa and George Weust after becoming orphans. They traveled with their cousins George Kleisen (whom Susanna later married) and Henry Stroot. He was 16 when he arrived in Terre Haute where they had family (Their counsins the Harrings (Heerink in Dutch) Susanna and George Kleisen and George Weust are buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Harry Weust and Gertrude Theresa Weust Neimeyer are buried in Calvary.
