HARINGHUIZEN VLAGT VOOR FAMILIE WIT

HARINGHUIZEN -Jaap en Nout Wit uit Haringhuizen, dochter Monique en haar vriendin Ingrid Zoon stapten op 13 augustus dit jaar al vroeg met het goede been uit bed. Het was een pracht vakantie geweest, aan het Italiaanse Lago d'Iseo waar de familie Wit al tien jaar dezelfde camping bezoekt. De dag daarvoor hadden ze het rustige, zonovergoten meertje achter zich gelaten. Halverwege was het pensionnetje in Karlsdorf opgezocht, waar elk jaar op heen- en terugreis een tussenstop wordt gemaakt. Op die bewuste zaterdag zou het laatste deel van de rit volgen. Even na zeven uur vertrok de groene, twee jaar oude Citroën Break met de vouwcaravan.

Enkele minuten later reden ze al op de autobahn. De beide vriendinnen verlekkerden zich al op de tompoezen, waar ze zich bijna vier weken lang niet op hadden kunnen trakteren. Een achterop komende Nederlandse Opel zorgde echter volkomen onverwacht voor een abrupt einde aan de vakantiestemming.

Jaap Wit (46, evenals zijn echtgenote): "We zeiden nog tegen elkaar dat het zo mooi rustig was
op de autobahn. We waren nog geen zeven, acht minuten op weg toen een auto met twee Nederlandse jongens van achter op ons in reed". Hij pakt er een kopie bij van de tekening, die voor de verzekering is gemaakt en beschrijft, hoe de auto tegen de vangrail botste, een halve slag draaide en er met de rechterzijde onder schoof. Daarbij raakten zowel zijn echtgenote als zijn dochter gewond. Nout zo ernstig aan haar gezicht, dat ze vier weken lang in een Duits en daarna nog eens negen dagen in een Alkmaars ziekenhuis moest worden verzorgd.

De hechte Haringhuizer dorpsgemeenschap liet zich van zijn beste kant zien. Nout is er vol van:

"Toen we thuis kwamen, konden we wel een bloemenwinkel beginnen. In het dorp was een erepoort, het bord met de naam Haringhuizen was versierd en overal was de vlag uitgestoken. Ook op de kerk. Ik dacht dat iemand van het Koninklijk huis jarig was, maar nee hoor, Noutje kwam thuis. Dat beleef je niet in een stad. We hebben een hele doos, afgeladen met post. Veel leuke brieven. Soms werd gezegd: Ik kan helemaal niet schrijven en dan kréég je leuke brieven! Er was ook een soort bulletin. Als ik een briefje schreef, kopieerde Piet de Boer dat en dan deed het de ronde".
