De familie Thomée
Dokter Johannes Thomée de oude, de nieuwe eigenaar en bewoner van Oude Delft 197, werd geboren in 1859 te Delfshaven. Na zijn studie werkte hij in Delft eerst als gemeentearts en als buitengewoon docent van de Indische Instelling. Hij was ook lid van de gemeenteraad en onder meer voorzitter van de "Oranjedag".
In 1912 vestigde hij zich als huisarts op de Oude Delft. Bij zijn spreekkamer liet hij een fraaie Spaanse tuin aanleggen. (Zie ook: De tuin werd steeds mooier) Hij overleed vier jaar later al, en werd als bewoner en als praktiserend huisarts direct opgevolgd door zijn zoon Johannes Thomée de jongere (geboren in Delft, 1886). De jonge Thomée werd vooral vermaard als voetballer die de bal onstuitbaar hard in het doel kon schieten. Hij werd herhaaldelijk in het nationale elftal opgesteld en nam zo ook deel aan de Olympische Spelen in 1928, in het Olympisch Stadion in Amsterdam. In Delft was hij captain, voorzitter en de erevoorzitter van de Delftse club Concordia.
Door al die drukke bezigheden, en misschien ook wel door de crisistijd en de oorlog, schoot de zorg voor het huis er een beetje bij in. Vermoedelijk is in zijn tijd de grote schouw in de voorzaal afgevoerd en misschien verkocht.
