Lammert de Bult was een bekende stroper in Laren. De schilder Bart Nibbig heeft hem met nog 2 bekende Larense dorpsfiguren vereeuwigd op een schilderij, welke in het Singer Museum in Laren hangt.

Bekende, maar o zulke doorgewinterde stropers was het trio Loopheintje, de Kneut en Herman van Japie. Lammert Willard, was een gebochelde met de bijnaam "de Kneut". Zijn kleine gedrongen gestalte, waarop een groot hoofd prijkte, waarin een paar spottende ogen (zelfspot bezat hij) de wereld inkeken bewoog zich met een verbazende snelheid. Daarom was hij aangesteld als lopende telegrambesteller bij de PTT. Als hij in functie was (voor elk bezorgd telegram ontving hij een stuiver) verwisselde deze vrijgezel zijn allerdaagse kiel voor een dienstjas waarop het officiële postwapen blikkerde. Tjonge, wat was hij daar trots op. Zijn bijnaam "de Kneut" waarmee hij werd aangesproken, deerde hem niet, dat bewees zijn zelf verzonnen liedje, dat hij met veel plezier op een feestje of bij zijn kornuiten in de kroeg met verve zong.

't Was op een zeker feest, ik liep toen heel bedeesd
Te wandelen langs de Brink, waar 'k graag een borrel drink
Maar opeens, het is haast niet te geloven
Een meid zat op mijn kast, zij hield zich stevig vast
Zat hoog daarboven, zat hoog daarboven.

[pag. 141-144] verhaalt over een streek die het drietal uithaalde door een gestroopte hert met een handkar naar Bussum te brengen en daar hen opwachtende dorpsveldwachter te verschalken.

Ome Stef (*10-1913) kreeg de jack welke door De Bult gedragen was.Doordat hij door zijn tweede naam naar hem vernoemd was. Men was in die tijd zo arm, dat spullen van overleden weer hergebruikt werden binnen de familie.
Ome Stef voelde zich dood ongelukkig door het dragen van dat jack en werd door velen uitgelachen omdat op de rug een zak hing (uitsparing voor de Bult). Verteld door hem in Laren, 1991
