Woonde alleen na overlijden echtgenote, Maria Regina (Riet) Bartels, in flat in Overvecht,Utrecht, kon zich nog redden totdat hij in de LIDL supermarkt over een randje struikelde en zijn heup brak.
Gevolg een opnamen in Ovecht Ziekenhuis, geen plaats in een verzorgingshuis, dit duurde vrij lang , onder tussen in het ziekenhuis kreeg dementie de overhand en verbouwde hij 's nachts zijn oa. bed. Ook viel hij een ander patiente aan. NOOD was hoog , eindelijk een plek inSwellengrebel Vezorgingshuis Utrecht een plek. de heup is niet geopereerd zo reed hij rond in een rolstoel.
Uiteindelijk werd paliatieve sedatie uitgevoerd, waarbij ik zijn zoon, minsten rwee weken aan zijn bed zat. Tijdens de kerstviering in het verzorgingshuis werd ik door een stagiaire gebeld dat mijn vader overleden was. Er was geen arts daar aanwezig om dit verhaal te wettigen.
ook kreeg ik geen direktie lid van het aan de lijn.
Toen heb ik de uitvaartbedrijf gebeld om het stoffelijk overschot van mijn vader direct op te halen en een schouwarts te waarschuwen. Op die avond heeft zich wel het ‚‚n en ander tussen Swellengrebel en Uitvaartbedrijf afgespeeld.

Het verzorgingshuis was er wel snel bij om te eisen dat het appartement binnen een week ontruimd moest zijn.
