    In 1916 meldt de Leeuwarder courant dat er bij twee schapen van Willem van Doezum rotkreupel geconstateerd is.
    Het was belangrijk om dat te vermelden, omdat deze nare aandoening zeer besmettelijk is, ook via de mest van de schapen en de modder waarin ze gelopen hebben.
    Rotkreupel is een stinkende ontsteking aan de klauw van het schaap en wordt veroorzaakt door twee bacteriën.
