Allemaal speculatie dit, het is onbekend wie de vader van Gerrijt Tonnis was. Maar in deze stamboom doe ik een gokje; aangezien Gerrijt zich later Gerrit Derks Selvius noemde heb ik gekozen voor Derk Gerrits Zelvius als vader. Leuk, want zo zijnde westermannen nog op een manier verbonden met de Dutmers. Een kleindochter Gerritje van Gerrijt trouwde met Lubbertus Kamminga. Diens moeder Grietje Ketelaar was getrouwd met Jakob Panjer, mijn directe voorouder aan de Westerman kant. Een halfbroer van Gerrijt was Jacob Zelvius, die trouwde met Grietje Pel, mijn directe voorouder aan de Dutmer kant. Misschien kende Grietje Pel Jacob Zelvius wel op die manier? En de zoon Jan van Gerrijt was de eerste die emigreerde naar Michigan. Was dat de reden dat het gezin van Jacob Zelvius later ook naar Michigan vertrok?
