Edske Jacobs was het 5e kind van Jacob Jans Smidt en Hilke Edskes, zij werden op resp. 19-06 en 18-09- 1696 lidmaat op belijdenis van de Ned Geref Kerk in Uithuizermeeden. Zij kregen 8 kinderen , allen gedoopt te Uith meeden. Antje Vos werd rond1740 naar haar grootvader Jacobus Lambertus Vos 'gestuurd' na het overlijden van diens derde vrouw . Hij woonde in het huis te Oudeschip dat van de Nannincks afkomstig was. Jacob Edskes Vos werd smid te Thesinge in de 'oude smederij' die nu eenmuseumsmederij is. Hij huwde 1e met Brechtje Michiels (Ludens) , daarna met Albertje Egges (Dijkhuizen) , uit het 1e huwelijk werden 5 kinderen en uit het 2e 7 kinderen geboren
