Marten Jans Blaak stamt waarschijnlijk uit het tweede huwelijk van zijn vader, aangezien hij in het huwelijkscontract van Marten Jacobs Blaak en Grietje Jacobs (Wildervank 19 december 1764) wordt omschreven als bruidegoms halve oom. In het huwelijkscontract van Jacob Jans en Grietien Egberts wordt hij daarentegen bruidegoms broer genoemd.
Wildervank 22-3-1751. Marten Blaak x Albertjen Andries kopen van Hindrik Ockes zijn huis aan het Westerdiep in Wildervank op Cav. 3, dat belast is met een jaarpacht van f5-10, voor f170, onder andere op voorwaarde "dat verkoper een jaar lang bijCopers huisvestinge sal hebben" {RA Vmm-7 Wildervank 22-3-1751}.
