Na overlijden ouders als voogden aangesteld Hendrik Jan Westerkamp (broer van Anthonij Westerkamp) en Evert Lindeboom 79 jaar als toeziend voogd (schoonvader van Hendrik Jan Westerkamp)

Janna is blijkbaar als enige van de vijf kinderen geplaatst in het protestantse weeshuis " Neerbosch" in Nijmegen. In 1870 staat ze ingeschreven. Zij is dan 5 jaar oud en krijgt een opleiding tot naaister, ze blijft haar hele leven in de stad wonen
