Notes about Petrus Rembertus Westerhoff

Occ : physician

- Came from Adorp to Groningen. Being physician in Adorp also.
- Came from Groningen to Eelde 03 Nov. 1881

- The municipal Archives of Groningen contain a book on the family van Bergen from Eelde, in which a bill is shown from a painter to "P.R. Westerhoff, physician".

- P.R. Westerhof lived at 'Vennebroek', house number B201 in Eelde, the present Hoofdweg nr.265, a little north of Paterswolde, owning the estate from 10-9-1881 until his death in 1921, moving to Eelde from Groningen at 3-11-1881.
This stately farm contains a stained glass with the coats of arms of the families which have owned Vennebroek, including Westerhof. This coat of arms however belongs to a Westerhof clan from the western part of Holland (and Westphalen Germany before that). Any connection to the Groningen Westerhofs has yet to be proven. (see attachment and see Plances de lámorial by Rietstap : a silver sword on keel and a keel cross on gold)

- anomaly : a Jan Westerhof is also mentioned as living at Vennebroek from 1882 until 1912. This Jan would have died unmarried and childless. He is untracable in the public records, but is named as being deacon in Eelde in 1881/1882. His name also appears on a silver communion chalice made for the Dutch Reformed Church in Eelde, sold in 1894 to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. See also : http://www.arpschnitger.nl/orgelsindrenthe.nl/nederlands/eeldehk.html.
The Municipal Archives of Groningen do not mention any 'Jan Westerhof' having died between 1903 and 1913.
