Frans was warmoezier.
Toen hij 12 jaar was ging hij al bij zijn vader op de tuin werken.
In 1900, hij was 18 jaar, overleed zijn vader, en moest Frans alleen verder.
Ook hij bracht zijn zelfgekweekte groente langs de mensen met paard en wagen.
In 1917 kwam er een groenteveiling in Hilversum.
In plaats van een groentewagen kwam er een groentepraam, de boot bracht de groente naar de veiling in Hilversum aan de Berensteinseweg.
Van Weesp naar Hilversum met een trekschuit was eigenlijk veel te ver, daarom kocht Frans 2 hectare grond aan de Kromme Rade te Kortenhoef.
Het gezin verhuisde met 8 kinderen, waarvan 5 jongens, van Weesp naar Kortenhoef, op deze plek is nu Intratuin gevestigd.
