Notes about Geert Weening

Geert was mogelijk een zoon van Hendrik Wenninge en en Geertruid Derks Homberg
Geert trok in het midden van de achttiende eeuw van Sleen naar de stad Groningen. Bij zijn eerste huwelijk in 1753 wordt hij “Geerd Hindriks Oldewening” genoemd, bij zijn tweede huwelijk in 1758 heet hij “Geert Weeninghe”.
Dat Geert twee keer trouwde en kinderen uit deze twee huwelijken had is wel aannemelijk maar niet helemaal zeker.
