Notes about Jean-François Nothomb

Jean-François Nothomb, dit 'Franco' dans la Ligne, fut le chef du réseau "Comète" après l'arrestation de Dédée, en janvier 1943. Il a géré tout le Sud, de Paris aux Pyrénées jusqu'à son arrestation le 19 janvier 1944. Il traversa inlassablement les Pyrénées guidant jusqu'en Espagne les aviateurs et autres personnes passées par 'Comète'.Avec son ami Victor Michiels, il était entré dans la Ligne le 7 octobre 1942, par l'intermédiaire de Georges d'Oultremont, père de Brigitte.
Son aspect méditerranéen l'avait immédiatement choisi pour être envoyé dans le Sud où Dédée avait besoin de quelqu'un pour la seconder.
Arrêté à Paris le 18 janvier 1944. Libéré par les Alliés le 13 mai 1945 à Amsberg au Bavière.

Après la guerre, il entra chez les Pères de Charles de Foucauld quil'envoyèrent entr'autres dans les déserts d'Algérie et chez les indiens du Venezuela pendant plus de 6 ans. Il fut aussi prêtre ouvrier. Malade, il rentra à Rome où il se maria avec Anna, son infirmière d'alors. Ils eurent deux filles Agnese et Ghislaine.
Il aimait aller dans l'Alverne, montagnes toscanes, près de l'abbaye St François, un petit joyau de beauté et de recueillement.
