Volgens het huwelijkscontract van 24 mei 1694 zijn voor de bruidegom aanwezig: Geert Luitjens Groenewold als vader en Ds. Henricus Jansonius als oom. Voor de bruid zijn aanwezig: Pieter Crijger en Henricus Hovingh als dedigslieden. De gift ingeval van kinderloos overlijden is 600 carolus guldens of alle mobilia van de bruid respectivelijk.
De vermelding in het trouwboek van Delfzijl luidt: "Proclamatie den 28den Maij. D' eersame Jan Geerts Groenwolt, jongeman van Oterdum, Collecteur (collator?) op Delfzijll, en de Deugtsame Sjouck Cooijckers, weduevrou van Roelef Peters. Gecopuleert den 17. Junij."
They were married in church on June 17, 1694 at Delfzijl.
