CLANT, ALEF (ANDOLF), officier, jonker, hoofdeling tot Leermens, Rijp, Eenum en ’t Zandt, geb. ca. 1610, ingeschreven als student te Groningen 21-9-1630 en na enige tijd verwisselde hij de toga voor het zwaard, zn. van Eilco Clant, Heer van Nittersum tot Stedum, Gedeputeerde van de Ommelanden, lid Staten-Generaal, lid van de Raad van State, Gecommitteerde in de Rekenkamer van de Generaliteit en Willemina Hinckaerts, otr. Groningen 3-11-1638 Jkvr. Margretha Polman, d.v. Anton Polman tot Nyenhave onder Ruinen en Gesina Alberda. Uit dit huwelijk zijn 4 kinderen bekend. Het 2e kind Eilco Clant werd majoor te paard en commandant van Deventer, het 4e kind Willemina huwde Laelius Lycklama, ritmeester, heer op Boekstede op Sebaldeburen in de Ommelanden.
Militaire loopbaan: Luitenant 27-8-1637, commandant 18-3-1639 van een vendel van 150 voetknechten en dat was nog zo in 1644, sergeant-majoor 23-11-1650 (Ringoir:15-12-1650) in het regiment van kolonel Balthasar Beyma (later: Oranje-Stad en Lande), luitenant-kolonel 16-3-1657 in het regiment (bataljon B, RN-2) van kolonel Wigbolt van Isselmuiden, kolonel 13-3-1663 (Ringoir: 7-11-1663) van een regiment (bataljon B, RN-2) met zijn naam totdat hij 4-1-1673 werd opgevolgd door kolonel Karel Rabenhaupt Baron van Sucha.
