Rudolph Emmen wordt op 2 september 1739 ‘gratis in honorum nob. parentis
senat. Gron.’ als filosofiestudent ingeschreven aan de Universiteit van Groningen
en op 10 oktober 1745 als rechtenstudent te Leiden. In december 1747 wordt hij,
komend van Leiden, lidmaat van de kerk te Groningen. Rudolph is van 1768 tot
en met 1781 raadsheer van de stad Groningen, is lid van de Staten van Groningen
en van de Staten Generaal en wordt op 11 juni 1762 benoemd tot lid der Admiraliteit
van Harlingen.(DGJ 2007)
