Op de website www.hetverhaalbewaard.nl staat bij Wessel Christiaan Brouwer de volgende passage:
Wessel Brouwer was een sociale man. Hij was naast zijn werk als drukker actief voor "de stille armen". Daarnaast organiseerde hij bruiloften en partijen. Jaren lang was hij Sinterklaas in "de Werkman" en bij V & D in Hilversum. Hij had een vrouw en vier kinderen van 10 tot 20 jaar. Binnen enkele weken na de razzia is hij gestorven, vermoedelijk aan uitputting (van horen zeggen van oudste zoon en jongste dochter). Veel herinneringen kwamen boven tijdens de onthulling van een monumentje in Kirchlengern).

Op de website van de Oorlogsgravenstichting staat een verhaal dat is geschreven door een kleindochter van Wessel Christiaan Brouwer:
Mijn opa is tijdens de laatste razzia in Hilversum, in oktober 1944, opgepakt. Ze moesten lopen naar kamp Amersfoort. Hj heeft van daaruit nog een kaartje gestuurd naar mijn oma. Zij liep van Hilversum naar Amersfoort om hem een pannetje bonensoep te brengen. Haar 2 zoons zaten toen al ondergedoken, haar 2 dochters, waaronder mijn moeder, waren bij boeren ondergebracht ivm het gebrek aan voedsel. Mijn moeder had het daar erg moeilijk. Vanuit Amersfoort is mijn opa vervoerd naar Kirch Lengern in Duitsland tbv de Duitse arbeitseinsatz. Hij overleed aldaar op 27 januari 1945. Mijn oma kreeg na de oorlog, middels een kaartje, bericht van het Rode Kruis. Op de ere begraafplaats te Osnabrück, wat in 1954 is opgericht, is sindsdien zijn graf.
Er is nu ook een gedenkmonument in Kirch Lengern alsmede in Hilversum.
