Notes about Christiaan Veltmeijer

In 1907 komt Christiaan Veltmeijer voor in een klapper op naam van veroordeelden van de Arrondissementsrechtbank in Amsterdam. Op 14 januari 1907 is de dagvaarding aan hem betekend. Hij verblijft op dat moment in het Huis van Bewaring. Hij is 18 jaar, arbeider van beroep en woont Oude Loswal 22 in Hilversum. Op 10 januari 1907 is de dagvaarding betekend aan medebeklaagde Jan Wisselman. Zij worden verdacht van het door dreigen met geweld een ander wederrechtelijk dwingen iets te doen. Christiaan Veltmeijer wordt bovendien verdacht van een poging tot zware mishandeling. De officier eist tegen Christiaan Veltmeijer twee jaar en tegen Jan Wisselman negen maanden gevangenisstraf. Het voorval heeft plaatsgehad op 2 september 1906 aan de Teulkamplaan in Hilversum. Ze hebben daar Johannes van Geelen gedwongen eerst een kwartje en daarna een gulden af te geven. Dit om Christiaan Veltmeijer te bevoordelen. Veltmeijer dreigde daarbij met de woorden 'je geld of je leven'. Wisselman spoort hem aan door te zeggen 'haal hem het mes maar over zijn donder.' Van Geelen gaf daarna een kwartje aan Veltmeijer. Toen de dreigementen aanhielden gaf hij hem ook nog een gulden. Daarna heeft Veltmeijer om hem van het leven te beroven of althans zwaar lichamelijk letsel toe te brengen met een geopend mes in diens opgeheven rechterhand hem een stoot naar diens hoofd gedaan. Dit lukte niet omdat Van Geelen zijn pols pakte en hem enigszins afweerde. Daardoor bleef het letsel beperkt tot een bloedende lip. Volgens de rechtbank is het ten laste gelegde niet wettig en overtuigend bewezen. Op 18 februari 1907 worden beide beklaagden vrijgesproken en wordt de invrijheidstelling van Christiaan Veltmeijer gelast.
