Notes about Cornelis Roijter (ook Ruiter)

In 1908 staat Cornelis Roijter vermeld in een klapper op naam van de veroordeelden van de Arrondissementsrechtbank Amsterdam. Op 10 februari 1908 is de dagvaarding aan hem, 19 jaar, koetsier van beroep, geboren in Hilversum en op dat moment gedetineerd in het Huis van Bewaring in Amsterdam, betekend. Hij wordt verdacht van diefstal. De officier eist een gevangenisstraf van 3 jaar. Uit de overwegingen blijkt dat hij in de nacht van 20 op 21 december 1907 heeft ingebroken in een woning aan de Oude Amersfoortsche weg 3. Hij heeft diverse gouden voorwerpen meegenomen (oorijzer met bonten kap, oorijzernaalden, kapspelden, 5 ringen, 2 oorbellen, halsketting, kruis, medaillon, broche), alles toebehorend aan het echtpaar Jan Kool en Marie Rigter, zij lagen in de bedstee in de slaapkamer te slapen. De diefstal had plaats met als doel de buit te gelde te maken. De middag voorafgaand aan de diefstal heeft hij daartoe samen met ene Lambertus Bakker besloten. Samen zijn ze even voor 12 uur 's nachts het huis binnengedrongen en Cornelis heeft de voorwerpen uit een niet afgesloten kabinet in een kamer meegenomen. Bakker bleef op de gang, daarna ging Bakker nog naar een andere kamer, maar vond daar niets dat de moeite waard was. Eenmaal weer buiten geeft Roijter de voorwerpen aan Bakker. De volgende ochtend ontmoeten ze elkaar weer en geeft Bakker de spullen, samen met nog een paar voorwerpen weer aan Roijter. Deze heeft al die spullen in Amsterdam verkocht. Van de opbrengst geeft hij circa fl. 214 aan Bakker, die hem fl. 25 teruggeeft. Cornelis Roijter legt een bekentenis af. Daarna komen meerdere getuigen aan het woord. Ene Leker verklaart dat hij voor fl. 70,50 het gouden oorijzer heeft gekocht. Ene Delweg heeft voor fl 240 meerdere voorwerpen uit de buit gekocht, Ene Van der Lis kocht voor fl. 320 een ander deel van de buit. Voor fl. 40,75 kocht ene Brunoff ondermeer een 'nieuwerwetschen' oorbel. Ook W. Esman en G. Esman hebben goederen gekocht. Cornelis Roijter heeft van alle kopers (medewerkers van juweliers in Amsterdam) het geld in contanten ontvangen. Op 10 maart 1908 veroordeelt de rechtbank Cornelis Roijter tot een gevangenisstraf van twee jaar.
